Meeting point

This is for drop-off, pickup and parking.

Hopkins Parking Structure, 9800 Hopkins Dr, La Jolla, CA 92093, 7th floor. Google Maps Apple Maps

Visitor spots are at the 7th floor, the top floor. Do not enter from the main entrance on the bottom, take the ramp on the side of the building and enter directly at the 6th floor so you only do 1 floor up. See the picture.

Parking

There are pay stations for visitors, you can pay with credit card, $2.10/hour.

It would be quicker to install the ParkMobile app and register your car plate in advance.

Program

  • 9:45am: Park and pay for parking

  • 10am: Tour starts, if you are late, please park and walk by yourself across the pedestrian bridge, turn right into ridge walk, then right again down the slope with the lawn toward the lobby of the Supercomputer Center, ask around if you cannot find it.

  • 10am-12pm: Tour of the Supercomputer Center machine room, then if there is time we will walk towards the Geisel library and look at a few campus art installations on the way.

  • 12pm: Pickup at the Hopkins Parking structure 7th floor again. If anyone wants to stop for lunch, we will have lunch at the Price Center, close to the Geisel library, many restaurants are closed on Sunday, but the Indian, Greek, Burger King and Dirty Birds should be open.
